I've Decided

I've decided that I will no longer make excuses for how long it is between entries - I'm just happy I

1) remember to blog, and

2) have time on occasion to blog.

So...I've been reading up a storm (6 books in 5 weeks - that's a new "momdom" record for me)

I've tried crocheting a hat...twice, and neither turned out very well.

Now I'm knitting a pumpkin hat for Aryn and that seems to be looking more promising.  Have to buy green yarn tomorrow to finish the project.

This week is our ultrasound.  Will this baby dart, dodge, and thwart our efforts to discover its boy/girlness?  I hope not.  I'd like to knit something for the baby and know what color to make it.  Not to mention picking a name, decorating, and clothes shopping will be a lot easier than if we didn't know.  Will keep you updated.

Have been trying out Facebook - it's okay, but not very detailed.  Can't really get a grasp on how someone's doing through it, unless personal messaging.  It's nice to reconnect with people from my past, but it sure takes a long time to read through all the entries!

There is a "freeze" warning in tonight's forecast - Aryn is bundled up, heater's on, and oh - get this:  our kitchen window is entirely closed for the first time since we've lived here.  Yeah, we made that discovery this evening when we removed the a/c unit from the window for the first time since our move last October.  It was really pathetic that we didn't remove it last year, but we figured it was sealed off.  That, and Josh was so busy, we didn't have time for any home maintenence stuff at all.  The top window was open about an inch (wow - so that's why it was so cold in the kitchen last winter!) and the sides of the window around the a/c were stuffed with cotton.  Honest to goodness cotton ball quality cotton.  We had curtains up, which concealed the gap.  We're looking forward to lower heating bills this year.  Soon we'll be having new windows put in - three for now, more when it's in the budget to do so.  Better hurry up - it's getting cooooold out there!

A New Leaf

We're turning over a new leaf here at the ole' homestead - Aryn is beginning potty training (really most rewarding for me, but she gets treats, too, for her efforts)  Josh is almost through the application process for one of the full time youth pastor jobs at our church.  It has been an all-summer process and I think the 2 5-hour sessions at our church Wed. and Thurs. of this week are the last hoop to jump through, so to speak.  We hope to hear the decision by the end of the month.  I am continuing to learn how to sew.  I made her a little pair of training pants (wanted to post a pic, but she already wet them) and I'm working on a skirt for me.  If I finish it, I will post a pic.  : )

I Can Never Think of a Clever Title

What do you get when a psychic midget escapes from prison?

A Small Medium at Large!  Ha!

I know, this is probably terribly politically incorrect, but it came from a game I’ve been playing that gives funny sayings or bits of “wisdom” at the end of each level.  Another one is:  Did you know a king sized waterbed can fill a room 3 inches deep?  I think the person who wrote that must have a toddler at home.

I am planning Aryn’s 2nd birthday party – hard to believe it’s been 2 years since I first held my little pink bundle in the hospital bed!

Now look what she’s up to:

Writing letters to admirers (and practicing putting things on by herself)

100_5606 Okay, here are the new pics.  Hopefully, you can see them.  I thought the last pic would be fun as a profile pic, but I don't have time to do that right now.100_5452 100_5419
